Since COVID and last year’s actors' and writers' strikes, streaming services threaten the very survival of cinemas like ours. The Plaza is a vital center for culture, arts, and education within our community. We must bring our audience back to enjoy movies on a cinema screen.

Our most recent movie, CONCLAVE (starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini), was a box-office success! Many shows were sold out. This indicates that audiences are coming out to enjoy movies with others in a cinema setting. It also shows the distributors that we can draw a crowd. More good news is the success of a recent spontaneous effort by Plaza members to raise much-needed funds to give the Plaza the means to face the challenges of the current cinema environment. The response was overwhelming, both in terms of money raised and audience enthusiasm.

With your support, 2025 can be a successful year as the exhibition industry recovers substantially. Our film buyer, Jeffrey Jacobs, travels to international film festivals and has witnessed an uptick in quality cinema, which is a sign the studios are investing in theatrical films again.

At the Plaza, we continue to apply for grants and tap foundations; however, it is competitive. Organizations that can validate community support stand a greater chance of securing funds. Please encourage family, friends, and colleagues to donate and come together to watch films at the Plaza.
